PWWSD Holds Speech Therapy Sessions in Gaza

Gaza – October 27: The Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development (PWWSD), as part of its Speech Therapy program, held therapy sessions for children with speech disorders in the Gaza Strip. This came from the organization’s belief in proper speech for children and women.

Speech therapist, Mahmoud Ismaeel talked about the awareness sessions held for clients and parents in Beit Hanun, Khan Yunis, Deir al-Balah, Rafah, and Gaza. In addition to providing service to tens of clients, including follow-ups and new cases. Since the start of the year, a number of cases have been closed and referred to hospitals and medical centers, with others referred to the PWWSD Psychological Counseling and Consultation program.

The Speech Therapy program was launched 6 years ago in collaboration with Tuyoor Al-Amal. The program operates in marginalized areas with organizations close to the clients’ residence, in order to facilitate access to the program’s free services. Ismaeel added that there are more than 200 cases on the waitlist for speech therapy services.

Speech therapist, Khulud Abu-Ghafra talked about the ongoing coordination between PWWSD and a number of other organizations to empower children and women in marginalized areas and provide desperately needed speech services.

PWWSD’s speech therapy clients expressed their satisfaction with the services provided to them and their children. They highlighted the positive changes their children experienced after joining the Speech Therapy program.

Clients requested further development of this project to become a permanent center, as it has had a massive impact in the Gaza Strip, improving the lives of children and women with speech disorders. Clients thanked PWWSD and Tuyoor Al-Amal for their ongoing efforts.
